TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking assistance on where to go for a 30-day visa extension while staying in Sukhumvit 12. Comments indicate that the appropriate immigration office depends on the type of entry into Thailand: those with a tourist visa should go to the government complex at Chaengwattana, while those who are visa exempt should visit Muang Thong Thani.

No. That’s only if you came in with a tourist visa. Visa exempt go to Muang Thong Thani (impact arena)

Colleen Duplock with the opening of the BTS dark red line now, from the new Bang Sue Grand Train Station, you simply take it to the Laksi station then catch a taxi.

my 30 days doesn't end until end of this month. Can we get the extension now or do we have to wait until closer to the visa expires? Read comments from old posts and conflicting info.

as Stuart said you don't have a visa, you entered with 30 days visa exempt which is just a stamp. Go to MTT and apply for the extension it will be added to your current depart date not from when you apply. Make sure you take copies of everything you need. They do have copy service on the ground floor. They only process 300 a day so early in the day the better

I’m not familiar with MTT and their policy for Covid extensions, but many offices will date the first Covid extension from the date of applying and not add it on to your existing stamp. Subsequent ones are added.

that's for covid but if just doing the standard 30 day extension they add to existing. Then if go for covid they do from day of applying. I was there last week between Xmas and New year and was chatting to fellow Aussie guys who one was doing covid and 2 doing the 30 days
