When should I apply for the DTV visa for Thailand?

You can entry anytime after accepted and on a 5 year period

Generally you should apply within 3 months of your intended departure date.

Some consular offices are busier than others and some people get theirs approved in under a week while others wait over a month so it’s better to give yourself more time rather than less.

There’s no “activation period” and the minute it is issued the 5 year timer is going.

I use mine going inand out. Because i work in Japan in office and remote at times for long periods, and like to be with the family in thailand.

The validity period is five years from date of issue.
