What was your experience during the DTV visa interview in Thailand?

Sharing my interview experience and my DTV approval following the interview.

They looked at my passport and enquired about the Non-O visa. I honestly told the officer that I was on a marriage visa and that my wife is Thai. Then I showed the book my wife authored about our journey and her medical treatment for several diseases.

Why don’t you apply for the DTV visa in your own country? I informed them that I had always applied for my Non O visa at your General Consulate, which is located near my Thai house.

Then they enquired as to what my job is. I mentioned that I am a pastor who teaches online. Then they wanted me to show them my teaching. I showed them my YouTube account, where I teach and they watch it. I informed them that they could see the PhD, Master's, and other theology-related documents I submitted. So they see it in their system.

What about your income? I do not have any income, but I have received contributions from everyone and they have been deposited into my bank account. So I showed them my home bank account.

Where do you stay in Thailand? I said that I stayed on my own property and showed them my land title.

Are you sure you want to learn to cook? Why? I told them I enjoy cooking and cook for my father-in-law. Show me what you are preparing. I could not find the cooking photo. I told them what kind of food I cook. I shared the ingredients for the Pa Loh and lamb shank dish. What do you want to do when you have learnt to cook? I shall cook for the underprivileged and my family.

The End! Just walked out, and my DTV visa approval.

I honestly think 6 months entry and 5 year validity for a cooking class, is a bit unbelievable. Also, having a Thai wife is a bit of a red flag, that you might be living in Thailand.

At which consulate did you have the interview?
Anonymous ******************
Which cooking class did you sign up for? I genuinely want to learn to cook Thai food. Is the one you signed up for a legit cooking school?

Thank You for your helpful report 👍

Congratulations 👏👏👏

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

@Bobby ******
Yes, how dare people get approved for the visa they are qualified for.

@Bobby ******
That is not nonsense, it's nothing but your opinion. One of the categories of the DTV is about Thai culture. Thai food definitely falls under that. Might be problematic for extension but let's just live and let live.

many people are using this route to stay in Thailand, but the reality is that most have little to no genuine interest in studying. It’s the same kind of abuse that happened with ED visas in the past, making it harder for those who truly wanted to learn. It’ll only backfire, juts give it time..

Anonymous participant 578 Too many foreigners overstay in Thailand, and some overstaying for more than ten years.

Whatever visa they have and whether it has been approved by the embassy or local immigration, they are doing the right thing. Just do not break the law.
