TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual plans to move to Thailand and partner in a tattoo business and seeks guidance on the necessary visa requirements and application procedures. Key advice includes obtaining legal representation due to the complexities of business visas and work permits, as well as the limitations on foreigners working in certain occupations, like tattooing, which is legally restricted to Thai citizens. Recommendations include starting with a visa exemption for 60 days, possibly extending it, and exploring a study visa while making necessary contacts within the tattoo industry.

Just come on a visa exempt 60 days you can extend for 30 days. Chill at first while you check the place out. Very different living here to coming for holidays.you will work it out once you're here. If you have to go out and come back just fly out to neighboring country there are cheap fares stay a few days and come back start again. With regards to the tattoo business make some contacts first they may help. You may be able to get a study visa so you are learning while your doing tattooing. If you see a lawyer it will cost you and probably not get you far without a lots of money down the drain. Enjoy your time in Thailand and good luck

It’s difficult to work in Thailand and stay longterm unless you’re 50 years old or older. Lots of information on the Thai Embassy website for your country and on Google. When you are serious about starting a company or buying into one, legal advice is definitely recommended. Everyone talks about how nice the Thai people are and they are in general. However, there are also Thais that take advantage of foreigners. You need to protect yourself from them.

You can't do tattoo work in thailand legally, reserved for thais only (like hairdressing) i think ! You can run a buisness or buy into one, but iam sure you would be cheated and loose the lot.

What is the best visa to get first and then worry about a business further down the line and can I sort out when I am in patong

The concepts are related. If you want a business you need a business visa. If you want to live here, without the ability to work, then you have many other visa options to choose from. LTR, DTV, Retiree, Elite, ED, Tourist.

Which is "best" for you depends on many individual circumstances including things like your age and economic situation. The "best" visa to live in Thailand without working, without respect for cost, is the Elite visa. That'll cost you like $20,000 USD for a 5 year visa. If you are over 50 then the retiree visa is best, assuming you can put the 800k THB into a Thai bank account. Most likely you'll simply need to come in on a tourist visa, stay for a couple of months, and then go elsewhere.

Wish you luck very hard here to start any business

You need legal representation. There are a lot of complexities involved in business visas, work permits, company ownership, declared capital, taxes, and other subjects.

Call Ben at Integrity Legal, that's my advice.
