TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend a 30-day tourist visa in Chiang Mai, you need a passport photo sized 6x4 cm. You can get these photos taken at a shop near the Immigration Office, which is located across the street next to a gasoline station.

well I just giving the poster some advice as written on the application form.

You are correct I have used a smaller photo several times. Never the blue background tho.

no longer the case. Just made my application with a β€˜normal’ ie smaller photo, no blue background.

Apparently they stopped worrying about this some time ago.
