TLDR : Answer Summary
Many users are sharing their experiences regarding cancelled flights with Qatar Airways and the refund options available. Responses highlight varying experiences: some received partial refunds or compensation offers, while others faced challenges in communication and processing refunds. Users recommend booking directly with the airline for better support and suggest checking the Qatar Airways website for specific policies, especially for flights cancelled between certain dates. Some travelers were able to successfully rearrange their travel plans or received upgrades as part of their rebooking options.

I booked China eastern for departure day before my original booking with Qatar airways. Got to LHR early and went to the Qatar desk. They transferred me with in 5 minutes to a BA flight via Hong Kong departing 4 hours before my China eastern flight left. The BA flight was much better as earlier and only one hour stop in Hong Kong. I lost the China eastern flight money but decided was worth covering my options.

Before that Qatar airways had emailed me a ticket on BA direct from Gatwick for the following day but I had plans in Bangkok that meant I had to get there.

My flight to Dubai was cancelled.... they offered option to refund or to rebook.

I chose to rebook another flight to Sydney in September.

Did not need to top up.... instead they upgraded me to business class for that trip.

Do a search on facebook for Qatar airways. There are facebook groups with people getting refunds not complete refunds. The Qatar airways website says: As a continuing measure, please be reminded that if you have a confirmed booking with a travel date between 28 February and 28 March 2026, you are eligible for: Complimentary date change to a new travel date up to 30 April 2026 when rebooking on flights operated by Qatar Airways, or

Refund of the unused ticket value.

Mine was cancelled on 10 th March. They’ve offered me £311 on a £1100 ticket. Not accepted it yet as says cancel so don’t know if it affects my rights.

Booked another airline out of Bangkok to London

I believe they deduct the tax and fuel part of the ticket? If that's correct, it's very unfair, as they haven't used the fuel or paid tax

I am due to fly on the 13th of April. On the app they are currently offering full refunds, or free date changes, on bookings up to the 22nd of March. They will probably adjust this date as the shutdown continues. I learnt my lesson during covid, and always try to book direct with the airline. It’s a lot better service when things go wrong.

Nigel Mills British Airways? Cancelled my flight to London once and put me on a later flight. Arrived London too late for BA Bangkok connection and had to pay for hotel myself. Got put on next days flight but lost pre booked seat. No compensation as they sited weather as the problem. Might have been for the flight destined to come to Aberdeen but the weather there was perfect! Could have put me on a later flight that would have made the connection but obviously I don’t suck cock!
