What should I put in the 'Place of Issue' field for the DTV application if I'm American?

Hi all!

This group has been very helpful, so thank you for all the advice.

One (pretty dumb) question for Americans...on the DTV application under the "Place of Issue" field for passport, I simply wrote "USA".

I am seeing that maybe I should have put "UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF STATE".

Does anyone who got approved have any info on this?

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks clarification about the proper entry for the 'Place of Issue' field on the DTV application form, specifically for Americans. They initially wrote 'USA' but are unsure if they should have used 'UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF STATE'. Other commenters suggest that writing just the country name is a common practice and has worked for them.

I’m not from US but I put the country and it worked, same for my partner. Most of the posts we read it seemed more safe to write country not the issuing authority
