Just some friendly advice for anyone making a soft-skills application. I was applying for a DTV through a gym, and they sent me the documents I needed. Something I wanted to double check, so I thought I’d run everything through ChatGPT before submitting it.
It picked up several mistakes in the school’s documents, including incorrect dates, the wrong passport number, and a few other issues. The same school was also offering an “apply for you” service, and I’ve heard of similar problems with cooking-skills courses and other applications.
One thing to keep in mind is that many of the people preparing these documents may not speak English as their first language, and they may also be working with a different calendar system, so mistakes can easily happen.
Just a word of warning: check every document carefully before anything is submitted on your behalf. I had to go back and forth with my school several times to get everything corrected. It does make me wonder what would have happened if I’d simply let an agent or the school apply for me. There’s a good chance the application could have been declined, and I may never have known the exact reason why thinking it was me.
