I know immigration in Bangkok does not seem to care much about filing TM30 and Chiang Mai is strict. Does anyone have experience with immigration in Ubon Ratchathani ?

I have lived in Ubon Ratchathani since 1991 and never been asked to complete a TM.30. Just saying.

Immigration in Ubon are very friendly. Pay them a visit and ask about the TM.30.

I'm with
@Rob***
on this; IF you just moved to that province what is the problem with paying a visit to the immigration office? Take a filled out TM.30 form and see if it's required. I don't see any down side in doing it at all.

The Ubon immigration department is not unreasonably strict, but they do require you to file the TM30. Every time we have done it it has taken about 5 minutes, and they have been very polite and helpful to answer any questions we have had. You can stop into the office at Rajabhat University and ask them what documentation you need for your condo rental, but it won’t be more than the form and copies of a few things.

If I am renting an apartment, isn't it a little more complicated than me filing out a simple form and taking to immigration .

Print the form, fill it in, take the copies and just file it at Immigration, worst what can happen that they say we not need. But if you do not go and they need you face a fine at next visit.

It makes a good impression if you show up the first time with the correct paperwork, even when they not enforce it. But I understand you try to avoid.
