TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on the best visa for staying in Thailand from September until March 2022. Several commenters suggest the Non-O visa and the Non-OA retirement visa as viable options. Key points include that those over 50 should consider applying for the Non-OA visa in their home country, which requires specific income criteria, or entering with the Non-O visa, followed by an extension application after setting up a bank account and meeting financial requirements.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

O-A is your best option.

Erm, think twice before getting a visa.
Kathy ****************
The O-A is great only have to have income of $2500.00 each monthly.. you will have to pay for a 5 entry visa which is crazy.. It's $200.00.. You must be at least 50, we have had this visa for almost 8 months..

this is true. We received multiple entry for retirement visa with this monthly amount.

@Joanne ****************
Yes Multiple Entry - Not limited to 5 nor is this O-A Visa described as a 5 Entry in the online listing of visas at the Thai Embassy / Consulate website

@Joanne ****************
thank you! Just trying to help and learned my lesson not to anymore...

@Kathy ***************
You have NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT... Everything you have posted here is WRONG
Kathy ****************
@Joe **********
sorry but you are wrong.. we received our OA in november and this is what the WDC Embassy required... Check your info....
Joe ***********
@Kathy ***************
But your explanation - use of terminology is totally incorrect. Your description of what you paid for is bonzo... There is no such thing as a 5 Entry O-A... it is unlimited entry and exit - if border conditions allow. Thailand land borders and regional land borders are closed.

The money requirement you speak of is NORMAL - usually expressed in Thai Baht Equivalent of equal to 65,000 baht equivalent a month salary in bank deposits. Or a one time 800,000 Baht equivalent Cash in the Bank. Which is equivalent in USD to $25,000 to, $26,0000 or even $27,000 in alignment with the prevailing THB / USD Exchange Rate - not $17,000 USD.

Bottom line you got an O-A Visa (last November? 2020?) and you don't know what you paid for - one example - there is no such thing as a 5 Entry O-A Visa... Did you use a Visa Agent? Or direct with the Thai Embassy / Consulate? I could go on but a waste of time

we wanted to get just a one entry visa on the retirement because of covid and we were unable to do that because the OA Visa is a 5 entry Visa which right now is crazy and that is what the $200 is for, the multi-entry Visa. The income requirements for the OA Visa is $2,500 income a month if you're going as a spouse with your husband you have to have a $17,000.00 in a Bank account that is in your name only you can not use a joint account.. We went through all of this last November trying to get our OA retirement Visa this is what was done in the Washington DC Embassy.

@Kathy ***************
The OA is a multiple entry visa, you dont have to pay for any additional "entry visa". Also you dont have to have an "income of $2500.00"
Kathy ****************
We just wanted a single entry especially with covid and not sure if we could go back and forth, had to get the multiple...🤑
Kathy ****************
@Steve ******
yes you do.. in the U S

Been there done that.
Lynnette *******
@Steve ******
I'm still confused. 5 entry visa, $2500 income, $200 fee?
Kathy ****************
@Steve ******
Husband has to have his income his was a monthly deposit and I had to have $17,000.00 for a yearly for mine.. I Could not use joint income..
Garrett ***********
@Ka***
What?
Kathy ****************
@Garrett **********
glad we have the multi entry visa now because we are doing the sandbox in 2 weeks...

@Garrett **********
I'm confused.

Sent PM
Kathy ****************
In the US that was the rules.. A 5 entry visa at $200.00 was charged..
Garrett ***********
@Ka***
There's no such thing as a 5 entry visa. There is either single entry or multiple entry, and a Non-OA is ONLY a 1 year multiple entry visa.

Also, for the financial requirement you can EITHER show a monthly income or the equivalent of 800k baht in your bank account.
Kathy ****************
@Garrett **********
that is for the 5 year the 1 year is $2500.00 monthly we got our OA in November and that was the rule.. The multiple entries is 5 entries and it is $200.00 and you can ONLY get that one with the OA you CAN NOT get a single entry on a OA retirement visa in the US...
Garrett ***********
@Ka***
Kathy, I have no idea where you got all the from, but none of that exists.
Joe ***********
With the Non Imm O Visa... You will have to first enter Thailand with an Exemption Entry of 45 days - then best get a 30 day Extension. Set up a Bank Account & deposit 800,00 Baht. Next after waiting until the last 45 dsys down to 30 days go to Thai Immigration and apply for an Extension of Stay for Retirement baded on that B Visa...

Age 50 or above, fill out form TM.7, Copies of updated documents bankbook, bank statement, etc. Go to Immigration get a detailed list

Thinking about what you said to me, your way also seems good. Get 45 day on arival then 30 day extra at imigration. But I do not know if after that 30 day what visa I could aply for (without leaving). What you mean with B visa ? (I am 52).

Apply for a Non Imm O 90 days at Thai Immigration - then after 45-60 days apply for a One Year Extension of Stay based on the O Visa

Joe ***********
@Marcel ****
Or do the O-A Visa in Holland at the Thai Embassy / Consulate

@Joe **********
Do you know if I could get an extension on the O visa, and for how long ?
Steve *******
@Marcel ****
You can get a 1 year extention of stay on the O visa
Steve *******
@Joe **********
Much easier to get the Non Imm O in your home country
Garrett ***********
If you're over 50, get a 1 year Non-OA in your home country.
