Hi, I am aiming to travel, view and rent a condo for long term in December this year, with the aim of spending at least 6 months a year there. I also need to open a Thai bank account.

What visa should I be applying for?

Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on which visa to apply for in order to travel to Thailand, view, and rent a condo for at least six months starting in December. One commenter suggests considering the Non-O or OA visas if the user is over 50, as well as mentioning uncertainty about the Special Tourist Visa's extension.

you got a choice of three different visas for Brits at moment.

If you plan to stay full time Non O retirement might be the best.

If you are going to be in and out of country the OA might also be a good choice.

OX i am not sure about.

There are alao some new ones that require investment although that investment can be in a condo. Its quite a bit of money though (million dollars i think).

If i had that amount to spare i would just get an elite visa 1 million baht for 20 years

the investment visa amount is bt10million in approved investments, of which certain condos apply for all, or a portion on the investment amount.

Non-OA has insurance requirements but doesn't have financial requirements in Thailand, you can show your finances in the UK. It also gives you a years stay from the date of entry for as long as it's valid.

Non-O for retirement doesn't have insurance requirements but only gives you 90 days on entry which you can extend for 12 months at a time inside Thailand but there are financial requirements to meet (money in Thai bank).

Which is best for you will require a bit of research
