Second entry into Thailand report.

After being in Thailand for 3 weeks, I went to Siem Reap for 2 and then returned through Don Mueang Airport (first entry was Suvarnabhumi). Easy as can be. No questions from IO - in fact I don't think she said anything other than hello and goodbye to me.

when you get a stamp for 180 days, and then leave and come back (before 180), do they stamp again or just let you in?

She must have said, "look into the camera please."

No. Because, when she looked up, I had already taken off my glasses and was looking at the camera. Didn't even have to ask me to put my hand on the fingerprint scanner. Wasn't my first rodeo through Thai immigration.

OK that is very interesting because my friend came into Thailand from Siem Reap via Don Muang holding a DTV and was given the third degree. He actually lives in Cambodia and occasionally travels to Thailand...it was only at the beginning of this year that he spent around 3 months here but he was already on a DTV then.

What was his past history of entering Thailand? If he had many visa-exempt entries his name may have been flagged and they will make a fuss even though he has a valid visa

@Ian *********
it might be because he came from Cambodia.

Also, look up my post from like 2 weeks ago...Thai immigration gave him a form to fill out with his contact details and they did this to nearly all foreigners coming off the Air Asia Siem Reap flight.

No, not at all. He has spent little time in Thailand in recent years on visa exempt entry. No more than a few weeks in 2023 and 2024 combined.

He was saying Thai immigration is racially profiling travelers. He's non-white, but travels on an Australian passport, his only citizenship.

I'm African American so I doubt it was racial profiling.

A. Nony Mous My friend said it was because it was mainly Cambodians and other brown foreigners pulled aside...however, it doesn't mean this happens everyday.

Still, Suvarnabhumi is way better...not worth flying Air Asia (which frankly isn't likely to be any cheaper than a full service carrier on a short haul route anyway) especially if it may come with less friendly treatment once you arrive at the airport.

Would you mind sharing your experience of entering Thailand for the third time in one year?

I most certainly. Probably heading to the Philippines in February or March. I'll be certain to let you know how it goes!

it's the same, I got the DTV when they were first available, never had a single question on re-entry.
