I've seen a few anecdotal reports recently of people who have remained in Thailand for an extended time on covid extensions, who have recently left the country for a week or two, but have then been denied a regular tourist visa/exemption when they wish to come back here again
I understand that this is to prevent 'visa run' abuses of the system, which is fair enough. But are there any rules for how long you have to be out of the country before your next holiday here, just to be sure you don't accidentally fall foul of this?
TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent anecdotal reports suggest that individuals who have used COVID extensions and then left Thailand for a short time may face challenges when trying to re-enter with a regular tourist visa or exemption. There seems to be no official minimum time required outside the country before returning, but experiences vary based on the discretion of immigration officers. Observations indicate that having a proper Tourist Visa rather than using the visa exemption program might ease entry. Respectful behavior and proper documentation are also crucial when clearing immigration.
