Hey all, question about the 10 Year LTR visa.

Can anyone point me to any verified documentation or an expert who can verify what the expectation is after the first 5 years of the visa? I'm trying to verify if we must re-apply/re-qualify for the visa to get the remaining 5 years, or if it is guaranteed once you obtain the LTR and it will be a simple process of getting a new sticker/e-visa/stamp.

My concern is if I don't continue to meet the requirements after 5 years (eg. I don't work for a company that meets their requirements for the Work from Thailand LTR-T) they may cut the visa short and I'll be forced to get a different visa.

Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The initial 5 years of the Thailand 10 Year Long Term Residency (LTR) visa do not guarantee an automatic extension for the second 5 years. Recipients must reapply and qualify again, presenting proof that they continue to meet the visa requirements. It is advised to maintain documentation such as tax returns and insurance certificates during the 5 years to support the reapplication process.

I am expecting that I will have to reapply in full in 5 years. I plan on keeping copies of my tax returns and insurance certificates for the next 5 years in case they ask whether I continued to meet the requirements.

I had an OA for six years. You have to show that you met the financial requirements throughout the year, for example with a yearlong bank statement, in order to qualify for a subsequent extension. I am assuming the same logic will apply to the 2nd 5 years of my LTR.

I didn’t ask the BOI directly what they would do in five years because I assumed that they don’t know exactly themselves. I did ask if they would check about my insurance coverage each year and they said they would not. My pension won’t change so I didn’t have to ask about that.

No it's not an automatic additional 5 years, or they would just give you the 10 years at the beginning.

You need to qualify again after 5 years. Ask the BOI what the process will be as no one can answer your question because no one has done it. The BOI probably doesn't even know yet.

I was told I have to do the entire application again but I just won't have to pay.
