Could use some help. My husband and I will have to quarantine in Bangkok for 2 weeks on the 28th but we'll be headed to Chiang Mai after that. Flights are pretty cheap right now from Bangkok to Chiang Mai but I cannot for the life of me find out what travel restrictions there are when it comes to domestic flights within Thailand. Anyone have an answer as to how to best get from Bangkok to Chiang Mai? Didnt want to book flights without checking here first.

TLDR : Answer Summary
This post discusses the current travel restrictions for domestic flights within Thailand, specifically from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, amidst quarantine requirements. Given emerging and changing restrictions, particularly for travelers coming from red zones, users share insights on the necessary negative tests and documentation required for smooth travel post-ASQ (Alternative State Quarantine). Additional comments highlight the economic impact of COVID-19 on Chiang Mai, suggesting that many establishments are closed, and travelers may encounter a different atmosphere upon arrival.

I did this some time ago. If you go straight from asq to the airport and have the asq documentation then you won’t have a problem.

Too far in advance to give an answer. When you are near to the end of ASQ you can ask again.

Not to be a fly in your ointment.

Chiangmai is a ghost town. Major hotels closed, 70+% shops, restraunts, bars no longer for rent. Now for SALE.

Inter province restrictions. No smiles, even behind masks as no jobs.

Been her 17 years, never imagined such a morphing.

The touristy parts sure - the moat, Night Bazaar and Nimman but most of the rest of the Chiang Mai you wouldn't even know COVID was a thing. Chiang Mai is bigger than the moat and Nimman.

go by car, a few Kilometer before the Saraphi Checkpoint, exit the Highway at Lamphun and drive on the normal road to Chiang Mai city.

It changes daily. As of now I believe Chiang Mai requires a negative swab test if you're entering from a red zone. If you're leaving right after ASQ though you'll have one.
