Sydney, Australia DTV approved

For any Aussies still waiting, it took a total of 33 days (standard days, not business days) for my approval to come through. I applied on the 1st of Oct.

As many have highlighted, there is a clear backlog and it's taking longer than the usual 1~2 weeks.

I missed when the status changed to 'Checking Documents' but it took 28 days to get to the 'Pending Decision' and then sat for 4 days on this status before I received the approval email. This 4 day wait includes the weekend.

-No additional documents were requested.

-I applied with the workation route.

-Started with the minimum 500k baht but I added considerably more funds into my account across the 3 month period and frequently, to make it clear that I had amble funds available.

-To avoid any complications, I moved funds generated through work into my private account and thus prevented the need of having to show account details/transaction/balance from multiple accounts

-To reduce any misunderstanding by the assessors, I included a cover letter for both of the supporting documents section (work and finances) that clearly explained the contents for each document. For work: I explained what I do and how I can earn an income by being a remote worker. For finances: I explained how I remitted funds from both my work and private assets into the single private account for clarity. I also made a note that I would be happy to provide the additional bank account statements if needed.

Hope some of this information helps.

Congratulations on your DTV approval, Sean! ๐ŸŽ‰ It's great to hear about another successful application from Sydney, especially with the longer processing time.

Thanks for sharing such a detailed timeline and your experience. You made a good point about preparing a clear cover letter and financial documents to help the embassy understand your situation.

We've also assisted applicants applying from Sydney through our cooking programs and have seen longer processing times recently, so it's always better for applicants to allow extra time before their planned travel date.

Just a reminder to print out your e-Visa and keep your supporting documents ready, as immigration officers may ask to see them upon arrival. Other possible questions are what is your plan to do outside of your soft power program and how you support yourself financially.

Enjoy your time in Thailand! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Get a nice credit card that waves international fees. I use ing to withdraw cash because a lot of banks charge a % of a cash withdrawal.

Enjoy Thailand. Its the best here

I am so happy for you Sean ๐Ÿฅฐ

Just submitted the Primary application (workation) with Canberra yesterday, need to add 2x dependants with travel date 10 Dec.

Very nervous about timing.

Have emailed and called embassay but no response. Got reponse from facebook saying must wait dependants until Primary is decided.

Anyone have any knowledge in this situation ๐Ÿ˜ข

ThoughtfulFlower8148 Canberra seems to be much faster than Sydney, based on all the posts I have seen.

However, I'm not sure what you've done with your dependents as part of your application, as I also understood like others who may have pointed out to you already that you must first get your DTV approved - then add your dependents afterwards.

yes I have been told as well, hence why I have to hold off 2x dependants applications submission for now. Now my concern about timming is thru the roof.

flights & accommodation all fully paid for, non- refundable.

I dont think we can enter Thailand until the decision is made and while the application is being processed.

Hopefully quicker process. I got all docs ready so once approval come thru, submit dependants.

Yes. You may be a little tight but I recall a recent post confirming that Canberra approval took about 2 weeks. If the Dependent applications are processed faster I suspect you will be fine. Is your travel date/flights locked in/non-refundable? Worst case you go to Thailand on the 30day visa free period. Deal with the DTV upon return.
