You won’t have a problem if you’re a genuine tourist.

Landed at Suvarnabhumi from Cambodia 2 days ago. I have a Non O extension so knew I would not have problems but my mate is here on holiday. He’s been in and out of Thailand a few times during the past 12 months but always stayed inside his 60 day entitlement. He arrived in Thailand 2 weeks ago on yet another 60 day and then we exited to visit Angkor Wat in Siem Reap. Flew back in and all he was asked was, when he was leaving Thailand again. He gave a date within 60 days, didn’t have to show any proof and was stamped in. All good if you don’t abuse the system.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent experience shared by a traveler indicates that genuine tourists entering Thailand face minimal issues with immigration, especially if they have a valid Non-O extension. The traveler noted that their friend, who frequently visits Thailand on 60-day tourist visas, had no trouble re-entering the country after a short trip to Cambodia. Comments from the community highlight factors that can influence immigration experiences, such as the behavior of officers and the presentation of documentation, suggesting that being respectful and presentable can improve one's chances at border control.

your mate was very lucky that he didn't have to show a solid proof of onward travel 🙂

Yeah, he had it and we thought he would at least be asked for it.

Thanks for this

Nothing to do with it. It's the luck of the draw with the immigration officer who will decide your fate.

Did you read the post?? Did you read the headline? It’s all about, if you’re a genuine tourist, you won’t have a problem. You wrote “Nothing to do with it”. Do you need further help in understanding?

@Nick ******

Don't try & be clever with me hiding behind ur keyboard

Well they are not consistent between each other. As there is no proper written rule, each agent makes its own arbitrary decision above 2 exemptions. According to reports, some will take the piss with several yearly exemptions, others will quickly stamp without asking anything.

look clean & presentable

Be honest & be respectful to the culture, people & businesses and you will always be welcome/welcomed back.

The Thais are great at reading people at border control

I always shave , dress decently say hello in Thai. Rarely get asked anything. If I do a border hop I spend two weeks there , fly in or out one of the legs, usually in to Thailand. I got a dtv do it's not an issue as they tighten up immigration

@Nick ******
personally I’ve never had an issue either, always hear strange stories and I’ve also overstayed a visa, 4 days exactly and then crossed by land in poipet, tried disputing the fine with the Thai border force and she shouted the chief police officer over, with a big smile he said it plain and simple ‘’ you no pay you stay in Thailand and you pay more fine money’’ and we both had a laugh,I paid the fine, we shook hands ,the day continued and when I returned to Thailand I was given another entry without questions.

Life’s really simple, you receive what you put out in the world

unfortunately in todays fragile world no one can be discriminated against and tbh all in all over the years all brits have played their part destroying Thais trust albeit it’s mainly the Gen Z’s lack of respect & class and Gen X coming over trying to ‘’buy out’’ all the women🫣 the Thais were tolerant for years due to the westerners bringing a lot of foreign currency into their economy which allowed them to expand but as years have gone by and everyone’s pocket has tightened, they’re beginning to resist,tighten laws & be less tolerant towards the behaviours of the westerners commencing on their streets

If you’ve been there a while or return regularly, do you blame them? I don’t

Truly one of the most special places in the world so it’s no coincidence people will do everything to experience paradise but 80% haven’t explored it past bangla road, khao san road or the massage parlour😬

Hope your doing well mate, Happy Holidays & Happy New Year Nick

Agreed but why do so many undesirables manage to get in and do their best to ruin this wonderful county?

Celestina Gabrielle Torres Personally I live here in Thailand and have a visa that allows my stay. It was my friend on holiday and yes he always leaves within the allowed 60 days with no extensions or border runs.
Wayne *********
They're primarily after people who use up every last bit of the "visa" stamp, then border hop to reset the clock for another 60 + 30 days.

Agreed but I see so many genuine tourists worried about being turned away. Hopefully this recent, real life experience helps them not to worry.

@Nick ******
Those genuine tourists who are worried panic because of media and those terrible headlines there.

I suppose it depends on immigration officer. I had dtac, I have a dtv it had my visa number on dtac, she asked for proof of dtv, it was somewhere on phone. She finally sent me off with other officer who in 20 seconds stamped me in. Next time in from Cambodia officer looked at dtac, smiled stamped me with dtv. So I'd watch the officer a second see which lanes are stalking, which are moving, head to the ones moving.
