Hi everyone, I’m currently in Hanoi and applying for the DTV as a digital nomad. I wanted to share what I’ve included in my application so far and get some feedback from anyone who’s been through the process.
My situation:
I’m the sole director of a UK-registered serviced accommodation company operating across two cities in England. The business is fully remote, with a UK-based reservations team handling day-to-day operations, along with local cleaning and maintenance teams on the ground. All income is generated in the UK, and the business runs independently of my location. I’ve made it clear that I won’t be seeking any employment in Thailand.
Financials:
The business generates consistent monthly revenue (in excess of £20k). I’ve provided both business and personal bank statements (last 3 months). I’ve also recently transferred funds into my personal account to meet the visa requirement, as most income is typically retained within the business and only withdrawn when needed.
Documents I’ve provided:
• Certificate of Incorporation (UK company)
• Companies House record (showing me as director)
• Business bank statements (3 months)
• Personal bank statements (3 months)
• Airbnb & Booking.com links + screenshots
• Company Instagram link + screenshots
My questions:
1. Is it best to submit both business and personal bank statements, or is personal sufficient?
2. The required funds have only just been transferred into my personal account - is it better to wait a bit before submitting, or is this generally fine with a clear explanation?
3. Is there anything else you’d recommend including to strengthen the application?
I would really appreciate any advice or recent experiences, especially from those who’ve been approved.
Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is applying for a Thai digital nomad visa (DTV) from Hanoi and seeks feedback on their application, which includes ample financial documentation and evidence of their remote business operations. They inquire about the necessity of submitting both business and personal bank statements, whether to wait before submitting their application after transferring funds into their personal account, and other recommendations for strengthening their application. Responses from the community emphasize the importance of clarity in documentation, including letters from the company and proof of residency in Vietnam, along with opinions on bank statement requirements.
Hanoi accept money being transferred for less than a month. Pal was just approved today on a similar basis.
He provided a letter from company secretary saying that employed remotely along with last month’s statement. They came back asking for additional last 3 months statements and company registration docs. Submitted those along with some other bits today at 11am and was approved by 1pm. Feel free to drop me a PM and I can send over letter templates that he used
1/ They only require your bank accounts but it doesn't hurt to supply both. 2/ When I applied in the UK the funds only had to be in the latest bank statement but for at least 10 days, but I think Hanoi is 3 months. 3/ You must draught a letter on company letterhead giving yourself permission to work remotely in Thailand. Also, supply a covering letter stating that you will not do any work for Thai companies or citizens and you will abide by all rules and regulations of Thailand. UK embassy also required an e-ticket, whereas other embassies accept a planned travel date with possible flight number. Don't forget proof you are in Vietnam, entry stamp and hotel booking.
