Investigating a DTV visa for one of my sons ,I am already in Thailand . I am looking at physical fitness/wellness classes. I found one in Phuket seems very interesting. Does anyone have experience with these classes and does anyone know of any in the Chiang Mai area? Thank you
Answer summary
The user is investigating options for a DTV visa for their son, focusing on physical fitness/wellness classes available in Thailand. They found a promising class in Phuket and seek recommendations specifically in the Chiang Mai area. Responses suggest contacting local Muay Thai gyms, such as 'Muay Thai Fever', which are known to assist with DTV visa applications. Participants emphasize the need to confirm whether any fitness class qualifies under the DTV Soft Power activities, as only specific programs are accepted by embassies.

Suggest you talk to a Muay Thai training gym in the area where he will be living...if they can provide him with a focus on a physical fitness program within his Muay Thai training program.

In Chiang Mai, Muay Thai Fever is a well known gym with much success in assisting its students with the necessary important documents to submit with his DTV visa application.

Anonymous participant You need to find out whether the physical fitness/wellness class you spotted in Phuket is accepted as a qualifying course for the purpose of DTV application. You appear to already know that only a limited number of Embassies accept such and that they are strictly evaluated on an individual basis. Therefore, telephone/email enquiries would be the way to go. Once you find out, you could help others by letting us know. Finally, you need to find out if a similar course is available in the Chiang Mai area. As you know, nine months duration is now the minimum recommended course length to avoid the possibility of an Embassy issuing a six months Multiple Entry Tourist Visa instead of a DTV.

Anonymous participant If you see, A limited number of Embassies also consider than you did choose Tourist visa.

Please do not mix and match different visa, try to follow the rules of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

BUT your choice to mix and match and find out after application.;;

I dont see it listed on your post. Accepted DTV Soft Power Activities

As of late 2025, Thai Embassies recognize only a few specific activities under the DTV Soft Power scheme as follows:

Muay Thai training at registered and certified gyms

Thai cooking courses conducted by an accredited culinary school

Extended medical or wellness treatment at licensed hospitals or clinics

A limited number of Embassies also consider sports training, seminars, music festivals, or cultural workshops as eligible activities, but these are strictly evaluated on an individual basis. In some areas, officers instead issued multiple-entry tourist visas rather than DTV visas for such applicant. Siam Legal
