Is it feasible to live in Thailand while waiting for my Australian partner visa?

Hi all, after some advice. I am currently applying for a partner visa in Australia (i’m English) but I have to be outside the country to obtain it and it can take upto 24 months for it to be granted. Instead of spending all my time in shitty Manchester i’d much rather spend it in Thailand. I’m very fortunate that money is not an issue and i can support myself ongoing due to my partners business being very lucrative. So would this be feasible..METV visa (270 days with visa runs), then Vietnam for 3 months, then apply for another METV visa and head back to Thailand?as I say, my Australia visa may be granted by then but just thinking ahead.
