Is an ATM slip enough for proof of funds? Im going to Penang, Malaysia. SETV. American Passport. I thought I would be able to print out my bank statement online but it turns out I had to first enable it and it wont be available until next months statement. I have the 20k baht requirement in cash, but I'm not sure if that will work since I have to drop off all the requirements and come back the next day? Im guessing if I give someone 20k cash over night I will never see it again.
If a ATM slip isnt good enough then what would work? Can I just screenshot and print my online banking page? There is no date or name linked on the page showing funds available..

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about using an ATM slip as proof of funds for a Thai Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) while traveling to Penang, Malaysia. They have the required 20,000 Baht in cash but are unsure if an ATM slip will suffice. The consensus in the comments suggests that while an ATM slip may not be ideal, a printout from online banking that shows their name and balance is acceptable. It's advised that they print or save an export of their bank statement to meet the requirements at the embassy and to show the cash upon entering Thailand if requested by immigration.
told me how to do it. I just needed to export my statement and download it for it to have my name and the date on it. Hopefully the print shop is open on Sunday because I leave early Monday! Wish me luck =P
As you can read in the box on the picture I posted, using Photoshop or other dubious ways to make documents is a big risk. Stop providing information how to make fake documents or I will use the exit and goodbye button for you.
every transaction has a date and then there will be a date showing your balance if not you have a shit ass bank company and I would switch since that's not convenient at all
No probs. I do this regularly for various applications that need statements. Thai banks I can just walk in and order one, but international banks I always order or print the full statement from my online account Has my name and all required details :)
I have 3 entirely different bank accounts. Not 3 different checking/savings account. Maybe I am just looking in the wrong places but I dont see my name anywhere.
once you open online banking it says account number and should have your name.. who is account on? its impossible your name is not there. thats just not right
Penang is asking for a financial statement if you already have tourist visa in your passport. Financial Statement must be in Thb, Euro, US $, RM, others must state the converted rate and sum. See point 5:
I only have 2 non visa entries. Obviously I should bring proof of funds anyways, but does this mean if I dont have any tourist visa before this I may not need proof of funds?
You can not use CASH as a bank statement at a Thai Consulate, Embassy or even at Immigration. You can NOT use a bank statement, credit cards, mobile phone as proof of CASH at a checkpoint when you enter Thailand.
But just showing them cash is enough? I have 3 different bank account and none of them have "Proof of Balance" in the settings. None of them show dates or names on the balance page.
I also had trouble the other day. so i figure that one. I printed old one and attached the rest of the pages. Just take 30mins for that. And u will figure it out. Good luck ✌
I printed that one out. that one have my name on it.. and than I just printed stuff from July, August, September.. didnt have my name on it.. but i attached it with my old bank statement. and they accepted it. as long as it had dates. and my name on front page
where are all these banks with your name next to your balance?! I have chase, charles schwab, and a local bank from back home and NONE of them have my name anywhere.
Just print the front page of your online banking. Showing your name, account and balance. They don’t need the official bank statement for SETV.
And the 20k isn’t given to the embassy or agent. It’s separate and for showing at the border upon entry to Thailand, if requested by immigration officers.
Most online accounts have whats called "Proof of Balance" available in the settings. It displays name, account, balance and a time stamp which can either be downloaded or emailed directly from the internet banking site. If you can't find it, I would phone the bank and they can send you this via email.
