As I like to stay in Thailand long term am I better off getting a Retirement Visa rather than a 6 month multiple entry visa? I don’t want to give up my Aus Citizenship or Residency. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering whether to obtain a Retirement Visa for long-term stay in Thailand instead of a 6-month multiple entry visa, while wanting to retain their Australian citizenship. Commenters provide reassurance that obtaining a Retirement Visa does not affect citizenship and advise reviewing the requirements, including a minimum THB 800,000 deposit in a Thai bank.

THB 800 000 in a Thai Bank is the requirement for a visa/ long stay permit based on retirement. This funds must be in the Thai Bank for longer than 60 days. Then you still need your monthly income for your monthly expenses.
He may be referring to Residency. Currently residency for many countries is not just a convinience mailing address. Tax laws (tightened due to terror threats) mean that residency is not such a simple thing anymore and many monetary decisions can be affected by your declaration of residency.
