Is a flight itinerary sufficient for my O-A visa application at the Thai Consulate, and can Schwab notarize my documents?

As I prepare to submit docs for my O-A "retirement" Visa to the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles, a couple of questions crossed my mind and my search through the site did not turn up any answers. That doesn't mean they're not there, but my search parameters may be inadequate!

1) Is a copy of my flight itinerary enough for the Consulate? I'm using award miles from one airline to fly on Star Alliance partner EVA Air and they have not issued an e-ticket. Instead I just have a detailed itinerary doc confirming flight details including my name, date, flight number, etc. That plus my passport will get me on the one-way flight, but is it sufficient for the visa application?

2) I bank with Schwab. Does anyone know whether a Schwab branch will notarize documents showing value of the bank and brokerage accounts?

TIA for answers to these questions!

Cheers,

William

TLDR : Answer Summary
The flight itinerary provided as a printout is adequate for the O-A visa application at the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles. For document notarization, it is recommended to take your Schwab account statements to a local bank or a Notary Public, as some banks may offer free notarization services.

I just got my own O-A visa from the LA Consulate last week. I went in-person and they had it for me the next day. Impressive.

Printout of flight itinerary is fine. For such a “long stay,” alleviating my own concern, a one-way booking is acceptable.

Cheers.

...Your Flight itinerary is all that is needed.

...Take a printout of your Schwab accounts to your local bank or a Notary Public...(btw UPS Local Stores usually have notarial services for $5.).

Personally Sign the bank statements in front of the Notary. The Notary is verifying it is you signing.

...Submit a one page cover letter with your O-A application...attesting that the documents submitted are true and correct. Have your signature notarized.

...FYI...my local bank notarized all needed documents Free...no charge.

Good Luck..

If mailing.. Usually 10 business days to receive back your passport with O-A visa.

...Walk-in service available at LA...submit morning first day...pickup afternoon next day.

At the time I was under a time constraint. I had to get it right the first time. They took everything I gave them without comment.

Oliver Benjamin savings is fine...800,000 or more. OR a COMBO of Savings plus income which together equal 800,000 Thb or more.

Those under age 62 may not yet be taking Social Security.

James Miller you have to show 800k annual income? Or can you just show that you have 800k in savings?

KEEP IT SIMPLE...SUBMIT financial documents only WHATS NEEDED to meet the requirement.. Just so its over 800,000 Thai baht annual income...

I was over prepared. Had a lot of documents and spent a fortune at UPS getting them notarized. Don't let it get out of hand.

if you have a local Schwab branch...use it. You are their customer.

A friend of mine used UPS in St Louis...to notarize... And used the LA Consulate too for his O-A..notarized all needed documents and his Cover Letter as I recommended at UPS.

O-A visa issued by mail in 10 days fm LA.

I suspect a local Schwab branch won't be as accommodating when it comes to notarizing documents. I'll just pay the fee for UPS to notarize my Live Scan criminal record clearance report, my CalPers pension confirmation letter, medical report and Schwab account balances. Cheers, William

William Butler my bank also notarized my signature on the medical report form and police clearance report. My doctor signed the med cert...no tests needed...no fee.

In fact the LA Consulate will accept a Thai doctor signing the medical certificate done in Thailand.

My local police department prepared the police report in 20 minutes...no fee....stamped with City Seal as authentic.

I submitted my Social Security annual income statement which I submit with my Federal Income Tax return. I signed it...my bank notarized my signature...no fee.

And my annual Pension income statement ...I signed it...my bank notarized my signature...no fee.

All you need to submit is proof of ANNUAL INCOME OF 800,000 Thai baht. You can use COMBO OF INCOME AND BANK ACCOUNT balance in meeting the 800,000+ requirement.

No need to show larger amounts...MILLIONS...ETC.

For example. .IRA accounts, brokerage accounts...plus bank accounts.. Etc.

Keep it SIMPLE...

Just be sure what statements you do SUBMIT show they equal over 800,000 Thb annually...

Thanks James! I'm doing my Live Scan at the UPS store, so I'll use their notary to verify my signature.
