TLDR : Answer Summary
Setting up a company in Thailand involves variable costs depending on the type of company, how it is structured, and who is involved. There's a local saying highlighting the high costs and complexity: to leave with a significant profit, one should be prepared to invest substantially upfront.

Thanks for explaining..formy understanding, you have 100 % right, that foreigners restricted to any kind of these jobs...but if you own a firm, and working for your own firm ?
You don't need a workpermit if you're working for the company you own, however you still cannot work in a restricted field.
Example is a foriegn resrurant owner doesn't need a workpermit to cook the food in his restaurant, but he cannot deliver the food because anything related to transportation is a restricted field.
be fully aware of the jobs that are restricted for foreigners to do as there are lots construction related. Basically you can supervise, but not work, in most of the trades. Your attorney costs can vary widely depending on what kind of business structure you use. Siam-legal is very good, and will answer lots of your questions in your phone call with them. Call them Monday. Setting up a simple business will involve hiring at least 4 Thai workers for each work permit. You'll need at least bt4million in registered capital to get your business license. You'll have about bt5000-bt10,000 in incidental monthly costs also.
