Can anyone advise how I go about applying for a business visa? What do I need to show and I presume I would have to do this outside of Thailand, Laos for example?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a business visa (Non-Immigrant B) in Thailand, the applicant needs to secure the WP3 form that demonstrates their company has applied for a work permit on their behalf. This process typically occurs outside of Thailand, with Laos being a potential location. Applicants should prepare additional business documents and might need assistance from a Thai partner to navigate the requirements detailed on the Thai consulate website.
and who is setting up the 'business' in your name? They'd be the ones to talk to as far as what documentation they need to give you to get the 90 day Non-B visa.

Vientiane Thai Consulate website is in Thai, I hope you have a Thai partner to help out. On the bottom of this page is mentioned visa regulations in English. If you click on Non Immigrant B you see a list of requirements
Thanks bud. So with this form I would need to go to Laos? Any other documents I would need to bring from the business?

You need the WP 3 form from the Ministry of Labor to apply for an Non Immigration B visa in almost every Thai Consulate in the area. You only get this to apply for the Work Permit first. Visit the Ministry of Labor for the hand out with requirements.

Don't have an employer as business will be in my name. Also I was informed I go for the visa first and then work permit?
Barry just curious but how are you setting up a business in your name? Or do you mean you will own 49% with Thais owning the rest.

First your employer apply for the Work Permit. With documents from the Ministry of Labor, work permit application is under consideration and documents of your employer you visit OR if your employer can meet all the requirements of Immigration Office OR a Thai Consulate.
