Yes might be but don't expect to be let in every 6 months. Lots of people been refused entry so that 5 year visa is no good unfortunately. Get a proper visa
Awesome! What kind of work do you do?. Where are you planning to stay?. I lived ~3months in Bangkok. Nice city, however the air pollution was the most challenging part to me.
Martha Zambrano i get that, I couldn't live in Bangkok either. Phuket is our second home since many years. Easy to work for my own business from there. And I like the peace of mind the DTV visa offers me. Specially in these crazy times. All the best 🏵
Wow!!! This is sooooo great to hear. You can’t imagine. We are thinking submitting our application with a very short turn around before departure from NZ. Have been imagining this will be an impossible ask. But maybe not!
Colin Gale you sure can 👍 don't believe everything you read on Facebook, usually from people who don't even have DTV, I live in Thailand on DTV and I opened bank account, got yellow book and Thai ID card, and Thai license, all on DTV, no problem 👍
Mike Smith If you got a yellow book and a Thai ID card then you have added circumstances in Thailand. Either you are a property owner or are married. The average tourist on a DTV can't open a bank account, get a yellow book or an ID card. Also? When did you do all of this? Before or after the recent crackdown on people getting an account with a DTV?
Colin Gale I agree with you mate , we all know anything is possible in Thailand…. Whether it’s within the rules is another thing… if it goes pear shaped they shouldn’t cry when they get deported, personally I abide by the laws and sleep well at night
Mike Smith Understood, but when was that visa obtained ? My comments are based on watching Ben Hart on the Integrity Legal YouTube channel and reflect the advice he has been giving through this year.
Certainly, the banking issues appear to be a relatively new issue arising but the point about DTV and permit to work has been rumbling on for at least 12 months. By my reading (and also listening to Ben), DTV does *not* confer the right to work in country - that said, it may/ should be OK for working on contracts that are being executed entirely outside of Thailand.
However, I'm here on a different basis so I can only go on Govt publications and the legal advice referred to above.
Arnold Watson I'm not sure what you're talking about. This post is about the Thai Embassy in Wellington. There is no NZ Embassy in NZ. You extend visas at your local immigration office in Thailand. If you're in NZ all relevant details on visas and costs can be found on the website.
Arnold Watson no such thing as 30 day visa for NZ or Au. It was 30 days visa exempt now 60 days visa exempt or buy a TR60 visa giving you 60 day visa. You can not buy an extension outside of Thailand.
Ron Paul sorry to hear. I had best experience in every regard. I applied for the visa directly. They replied immediately, even called back for questions I had. Always kind and friendly as we know and love the Thais for ☺️
Ron Paul What do y'all guys mean by "who did you use"? There is only one official e-visa website. You inform yourself what documents are required exactly. Then you fill out that forms and submit you supporting documents. Unlike dealing with Thai immigration within Thailand, there is little an agency can help with getting a visa from an embassy abroad.
People going on about costs probably still cheaper than hanging around in a hotel in hanoi or elsewhere for sometime read 4 or 5 weeks. Still works out good deal for 5 year visa.
Michael Dawson It might be more convenient to get the DTV in your home country, NZ in the OPs case, yes. Still while a lot of embassies have some sort of "surcharge" as compared to the official 10k THB, NZ pricing is just outrageous. For the difference, you could easily enjoy another country for a while. And yes, even at 37,000 THB the DTV is a good deal visa. But some people try not to support such obvios ripoffs.
Ron Duke Lets see. The official published Thai law pertaining the DTV states that the price of the DTV shall be 10,000 THB. And now there goes an Thai embassy, charging the equivalent of 37,000 THB instead. So, what might be wrong with that - other than abuse of power and corruption to its core? Yes, letting go of such things is important when it comes to Thailand. But there is a tolerable amount of corruption and then there is this.
You paid for that „service“, too. If I remeber correctly, the NZ Thai embassy is the biggest ripoff of them all. The DTV is officially priced at 10,000 THB. NZ Thai embassy sells it for 2,000 NZD = a good 37,000 THB, so almost fourfold. „Magic“ Thai conversion rate.
