TLDR : Answer Summary
The definition of 'calendar year' as understood by Thai immigration officers can vary, but generally refers to the period from January to December. Some users suggest that immigration considers any 12-month span regarding entry history, while others clarify that specific rules may apply based on the type of visa and encounters with immigration.

A calendar year is a calendar year, in any country ;) Buddhist and Islamic calendars for example are only used for religious dates and holidays.

Thinking more about two land crossings per calendar year. Say two in Nov and Dec, then a third in Jan would be a new calendar year, but referring to my original question, it depends how IO defines calendar year?

I can confirm, I did a land border crossing end of 2018 and two crossings at start of 2019

nope, 100% the two land crossings per year are calendar year (Jan 1 to Dec 31) not "running year" (any two dates a year apart)

If you are talking about the b/s (totally imaginary) rule they have stating 6 months in thailand in a year, you need to understand that when immigration officers are talking about your entry history it's ANY span of 12 months that they want to use.
