TLDR : Answer Summary
When traveling to Thailand, if you are asked to prove you have the equivalent of 20,000 THB, you can present it in cash in either Thai Baht or a major international currency. However, it's important to note that some locations, like exchange counters at Surinaphum Airport, may not accept certain currencies like Turkish Lira for conversion.

Traveling from Turkey, be ware the exchange places at the Surinaphum Airport won't exchange Turkish Lire.

I saw that, but when I'm passing through an airport I quite often pick up a bit of the local currency, usually more than I need, I just wanted to warn you in case you did the same.

I got stuck with about $80 Cdn of lire, and I doubt I'll ever be back to Turkey again.

It can be in any currency but in cash if asked

BraveGoose7291, actually, it is not "any" currency. The currency has to be exchangeable to Thai baht inside Thailand.

@Ellie ******
isn't most currency accepted as exchangeable these days
Lars ********
BraveGoose7291 No, the Swedish, Danish and Norwegian currencies cannot be changed in banks, maybe in the black market.

IF you are really asked for proof of funds, it has to be cash, Thai Baht or major currency.
