Advice please

When transfering 800k into bank for non o visa , do you need to transfer it so a FET form can be issued. Does immigration need to see funds as a foreign transfer Do you need to transfer funds in your home currency then bank convert to THB, or is it best to us WISE for best exchange rate

Can you use WISE and get a FET form

TLDR : Answer Summary
When transferring 800,000 THB for a Non-O visa in Thailand, it is necessary for the funds to be shown as an international transfer if applying for a conversion from a tourist visa at an immigration office. However, if you are applying for a 1-year extension based on retirement, the international transfer requirement does not apply. For the best exchange rates, using services like WISE is recommended, and be sure to state the reason for the transfer clearly to ensure it is processed correctly.

If you transfer money thru wise, put the reason if for property purchase & it will go thru as an international transfer. It’ll take a couple of days longer

I'm applying for non 0 retirement from my own country. Do I have to show funds coming from my own bank account as international transfer.

That depends on if you are actually asking about a non-O VISA, or are you actually asking about the 1-year extension based on retirement?

If you are talking about applying to convert from tourist to a 90-day non-O visa inside of Thailand at an immigration office, then the 800,000 must show as an international transfer.

If you are actually asking about the 1-year extension, then there is no requirement for the money to show as an international transfer.

@Kevin ********
in that case you don't need to show the money came from overseas

Then there is no requirement to show source of funds.

Brandon? I am on a 90 day non-o, my wife is a Thai National, we transfer dollars to her account before arrival … we open my bank account and withdrew Bhat from her account and deposited 850,000 bhat in my account for my visa.

Is that an issue?

I’m retired and we will be staying full time in Thailand we are building a new home (Sawi) and own a second home in the south (Sadao) for family visits for us.

I just opened my back account so I will need to extend to have the account age … I want to do a 1 year visa

@Penny *****
that's not an issue as there's no requirement for the funds to come from overseas for an extension of stay (which is what you will be applying for) but there is a requirement that the funds are in your account for 2 full calendar months before you apply, date to date

thank you … my current visa expires Jan 27th 2026… funds will not be in for 2 months … will just extend for 60 day to qualify for the 1 year extension? Is that possible?

@Penny *****
are you male or female? Apologies but its not clear from your name.

sorry … Penny is our dog 😂🤣

I am male married to a Thai female … she is a citizen of Thailand & the USA we have been married 10 years … I am 67 years old and just retired.

@Penny *****
ha ha, sorry about that. Just didn't want to give misleading information. You should be OK getting the 60 day extension "visiting Thai family" extension to give your funds time to season. Note the reason as if you just ask for it based on a Thai wife they might say no, it jusso happens in your case that your thai family is your wife

when arrived Oct 30th it took 3.5 weeks to get our papers translated in Bangkok … then we were headed to Sadao and rains and flooding created more time delays … next thing you know we are 46 days into a 90 day visa … but we are good now!

@Penny *****
If your Non O visa is based on marriage and you are going to apply for a one-year extension of stay, you must have had 400,000 baht in a bank account in your own name for at least two months before you apply.

@Penny *****
I think the experts will have to answer that. I’m actually not sure whether you can go from a 60-day extension directly to a one-year extension without first obtaining a new Non O visa.

@Penny *****
If you already have the 90 day non-O visa then you don't have to worry about source of funds. But you are not getting any 1-year visa. You will be getting a 1-year extension. There is a huge difference, and you need to use the correct terminology.
