TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK passport holder traveling to Thailand from Australia does not necessarily need to provide a return flight date. While the visa-exempt entry allows for a stay of up to 60 days without a visa, airlines may require proof of a return or onward ticket to allow boarding. It's advisable to have a flexible ticket or a temporary ticket that can be purchased shortly before flying. Immigration rarely checks for this, but airlines may enforce their policy.

Yes as your airline might not let you board @productive

If you are arriving without a visa, then the visa-exempt entry requires an onward/return ticket within the initial 60-day entry period. Immigration rarely asks for this, but airlines often do when you check in. You can purchase a temporary ticket for approximately $14 just before you fly, which can provide peace of mind. It's a genuine ticket that is valid for 48 hours. Onwardticket.com

Immigration may ask for return ticket. But more likely the airline will ask for it or they CAN deny you boarding. I know quatar have asked me the last 4 trips.

The return information is not compulsory. You may be asked about a return ticket by the airline as you should have one ,this doesn't happen very often

Do you have to put it where? You don't need a visa for up to 60 days.
