TLDR : Answer Summary
You do not need a letter from the embassy for your first 30-day visa extension. It is a standard procedure for tourists, and you will simply be requesting an additional 30 days based on your existing stamp.

No. You will be requesting an extension of stay based on being a tourist, which adds another 30 day to your existing stamp, and does not require a letter from the embassy.
