We are planning visit Honolulu, Hawaii in Sept this year for family meet up. We are fully vaccinated(Sinopharm) and depart from Bangkok. Does anyone recently travel to Honolulu from Bangkok? Can US passport holder(CA resident) able to get Moderna vaccine in Honolulu(Bangkok>>Transit>>Honolulu) or just for Hawaii residents only?

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question discusses whether US passport holders traveling from Bangkok can receive the Moderna vaccine in Honolulu, Hawaii. Comments reveal that vaccination is generally available only to Hawaii residents, but there may be exceptions or options in certain transit locations. Additionally, information about transit requirements, vaccine approval for Sinopharm, and the possibility of getting vaccinated at airport locations are mentioned.

I live in Honolulu. I don’t think sinovac is approved in the US. If you haven’t found the answer yet, I can ask my friend, she administers the vaccines. I’m sure you’d need insurance just for their documentation even if it’s free. We have a bunch of pop up vaccination sites here, I believe they also have a site at the airport.

Don't mention that you already got Sinopharm and youre good to go. You won't get turned down for a vax. Even non-citizens can get it in the states now.

Where is your transit? I know in some airports you can get vaccinated/boosters. Miami airport does shots even for non USA passport holders.

Transit in Japan, either Haneda or Kansai.

don't you have to be vaccinated 14 days before your flight?

for USA? No, because I know people who have flown there just to get vaccinated- and done so in the Miami airport without leaving and flown out right after.

// Who is currently eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine in Hawaii?

All Hawai‘i *residents* age 12 and above are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine is not available for children age 11 and younger. However, more studies are underway and being reviewed to safely expand the eligibility for the vaccine.

Thank you. I am aware of the Phuket and ASQ for the return trip in December. Just wondering if vaccines is only available for Honolulu residents only or any US passport holders, regardless of departure origin

You do have to have had your final vaccine 2 weeks prior to travel..

@K**
as far as I know any US citizen can get a vaccine any where in the US and it's free..

that may not be true unless it changed recently. Every state is different and some require you to be a resident of the state. Like I said, that may have changed though since the US has more vaccines than people wanting to get it now but a few months ago that was the case.
