Hi all, I'm planning a trip back to oz via Thailand. 

 I've already entered twice this year by land and had two stamps put in... each 2 months (only stayed total of 4 weeks).

 now I'm thinking of entering by plane and only for a week.... will I be able to enter? Or should I fear or expect to be sent back??? I've heard stories about having to apply through immigration before entering if 3rd time in one year... and don't have enough time to apply in person at local embassy....

The digital arrival card still allows me to finish that process but may not suffice for immigration rules on 3rd time arrival...

Any advice or experience anyone?

Thai visas are only done online ( e-visa) not in person anymore.

You're not who they're looking for. The target is people who are abusing the current system... like those with a string of 60 visas separated by border runs.

As others have commented, it boils down to the immigration official's discretion. Something like 30,000 were denied entry in the first half of this year, which really is nothing compared to the 14 Million who entered with no issue.

The TDAC is an arrival card and has nothing to do with whether you will be allowed to enter.

If you've only previously spent 4 weeks in Thailand in the past 12 to 18 months you should be fine, particularly as you will have a ticket back to your home country
