Hi, I have 2 questions: 1. Can a tourist visa on the visa amnesty be changed to a Non-Immigrant O visa within Thailand due to COVID-19? 2) Is it possible to change to a student visa within Thailand due to COVID-19? I am concerned that if I leave Thailand at the end of the amnesty that to process a visa, that I may not be able to return immediately.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The possibility of changing a tourist visa on amnesty to a Non-Immigrant O visa or a student visa within Thailand is limited. If your visa has expired, you typically need to leave Thailand and apply for a new visa from outside the country.

If your visa has already expired you have to leave and apply for a new visa outside the country. What sort of O visa were you looking at?

. Umm, perhaps that's why I was asking for more information?

, we have no way of knowing that.

, you can get an extension for any legitimate visa on almost any type of visa/extension. Exceptions have always been on the retirement ones, which cannot, and more recently student visas because of misuse. Again, there are exceptions for certain nationalities who must go home.

As for amnesty, I laugh at all the psychics who are predicting the next phase of amnesty.

I don’t know either. But, whatever they do, it will be in the interest of the immigration officers, not the aliens/foreigners. And with

million cases expiring simultaneously, we know something big will need to be done.

1. I guess your Admitted until ../../.. is in the past and you do not have a valid visa at the moment. In that case the answer is no.

2. Return Immediately is not a problem for Immigration, if you can and have to leave due to end of your given stay, it is what it is
