I am presently in Thailand on a multi-entry O-A visa, which expires in August 2020 and am stamped in until September 2020. I plan to return to UK for a month in December 2019 and return for a further 90 days from January 2020. It seems that without the recently introduced mandatory health insurance, this plan may not work, as my comprehensive travel insurance (including £7m medical cover) and which meets my needs, may not be acceptable to Immigration. In any event, even if I took out an acceptable health cover for 90 days, that would appear to mean that I would only be stamped in for 90 days and not the 365 days usually given for holders of an O-A visa.
Since the health insurance restrictions currently only apply to holders of the O-X and O-A visas, to avoid this situation, I would need to cancel my O-A visa and obtain an O visa, SETV or even a visa exemption, with appropriate extensions. Does anyone know if it is possible to cancel an O-A visa and what is the procedure?
