HI I have a multi entry o visa on its 4 th extension that I have used very little since 2015 and would like to go back to using excemptions or tourist visas and regain the 800000bhts and also not have problems with health insurance in the future if the rules change as i always use travel insurance . I have been only using this visa to holiday 2-3 times per year and have not spent over 3 months per year since 2016 but have all these stamp extensions in my passport which may cause problems but i am due to renew my passport soon and could have no stamps ( 4 after the original visa stamp in it till my next thai holiday ... I would prefer to holiday in Thailand twice a year possibly for 90 days per year as my thai girlfriend is applying for a partner visa in Australia and we will only return for holidays after February hopefuly. My next extension is in January so do i cancel it in Hua Hin when I return at xmas. or just let it expire the day after i return to Australia and will i have problems doing this ???.... thanks..

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on transitioning from a Multi-Entry O Visa to tourist visas due to infrequent travel since 2015, wanting to ensure compliance with future health insurance requirements. They express concern about passport stamps and extension management while planning to holiday in Thailand twice a year. Comments suggest letting the current visa expire or transitioning to a new visa type without needing to cancel the existing extension.

And while we all await factual and consistent reports of what's happening in the O-A scene...Commenting is closed for now. Thanks ALL for your replies😉

On the insurance initiative supposedly the Thai govt has sanctioned a few health insurance companies that they will only accept for the visas and no others at this time...so having a travel insurance might not suffice to meet their rigid guidelines at this time for the visa...so look into that

Some people call in propaganda, others good marketing. Some people really do believe, but I go for Police orders from Immigration. I refuse to believe a website used solely for Information set up by

good question. And you need to ask the Thai insurance company re benefit coverages.

The 800,000 question is a valid one ...but not an option...at this time.

and as a 28+ year professional in Life and Health Insurance in USA, I will be exploring this more fully so as to know answers. The Thai agents have these policies available...but need to think outside the box for the opportunity to fill a need.

GOOD DAY.

one year at a time...that is key.

And lets await further outcomes in months ahead to gain greater insight into all of this.

Wishing you a Happy Loy Krathong this day in Thailand.

but you can apply for a NEW

O-A POLICY each year

😂😂😂you would have been a Superstar on my high school debate team....thanks for your helpful replies😉

he was referring to fact he will use travel insurance instead of buying O-A compliant insurance.

BTW...the fact is that many travel insurance policies which can be issued for one year and renewable for up to three years are in fact better than the policies on offer under the Thai list of insurers. The only need is to obtain the Overseas Insurance Certificate of International coverage signed by the insurer.

And before we go down that road of discussion... Lets wait another day.

I will be in contact with several fine insurers as such to explore that in the US re this in the coming weeks...as their policies are far more reasonable and provide greater benefits and coverage than those on the list.

he is not looking to buy any health insurance.

so you think a metv would be accepted or single entry x2 or exemption applied for year after year will be accepted after they realise i had a extended o for retirement ...just looking for 3 -4 months every winter away from Australia and hope fully not a problem or a marriage one year non o from Melbourne consulate exiting every 90 days ( then might have to cancel extention ) ... thanks for the advice..😟

There is no need to cancel the extension you're on if all you're going to do is get tourist visas, etc.

Just let it run out while you're out of the country.
