Can I apply for an extension of my Non-Immigrant Type O visa in Bangkok instead of leaving the country every 90 days?

ORIGINAL POSTER
Hello everyone. I’m currently staying in Bangkok with a non-immigrant type O (visiting family). I applied in the USA and arrived in February with the visa good for one year from January. I have been leaving Thailand every 90 days by plane and have been extending that way. My question: Do I need to continue to leave the country, or is it possible (and more convenient) to apply for an extension here in BKK?

Thanks in advance and I apologize if this has been answered previously.

Cheers!
