Hello I have a question guys. The DTV laos requirements says that I must apply from the country where my employment is based. Does it mean I cannot apply if my employment is based outside Laos?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry revolves around the DTV visa requirements for Laos, specifically whether one can apply for the visa from a country other than where their employment is based. Comments suggest that others have successfully applied from third countries despite the stated requirements, indicating that there may be flexibility in the rules.

Anonymous participant You can try in Indonesia. If know earlier, you could apply Thai consulate general in Kota Bharu, Malaysia by 3rd of this month. Now they have been changed to online system. Good luck.

Anonymous participant If you couldn't get this way, you should find other ways. There is several ways to obtain this visa.

First anything like that has been mentioned. Plenty others applied Laos with documents from a 3rd country. Do you have a link or pic of the requirement?

Anonymous participant that page IS not from the Thai embassy in Vientiane. Furthermore it's a walk-up embassy, if you can't apply they would tell you immediately.

Anonymous participant Is that from an agency? What is the source? Looks to me it is an agency touting for business and giving out misinformation in doing so

I'm not sure. I typed out something like "dtv laos requirements" as I'm making a checklist then I saw this and it freaked me out cos I have booked for everything and I'm flying out to laos on Monday πŸ₯²πŸ₯². I also found something that says authentificates by following embassy etc etc. When I cross checked with what's listed on the embassy website, I don't see anything like that.

Only believe the information found on the visasection of the Thai Embassy you will apply at.

There you find the need-to-know information.

Anonymous participant This looks like an agency site and nothing official. Unless something changed drastically thise requirements are wrong. You can apply in Laos using employment from a 3rd country.

Anonymous participant Not to worry. Agent love this FUD ( Fear Uncertaintly and Doubt) marketing to sell their services. It is going on with tax in Thailand right now with the rule changes for 2024

@Greg *******
it is from a well known DTV tout site that wants applicants to use their services. The info is very often inaccurate
