DTV Freelancer application question:

I'm sorry if this was asked before but couldn't find any information about my case. I have solid income but currently as a freelancer I work with 1 client.

I have a proper company for my business, a registered business in Bulgaria (active for the past 5 years), and 2 small dedicated business bank accounts under this company name. I'm the only owner and employee of myself (I literally have a contract between me and my company, it is required here).

My problem: this year most of my income is from 1 client. We have a detailed contract, between my company and his company for a provision of services, active for 1 year now.

1 active client, 6K USD / month contract. I was hoping to skip the part where I ask my client to sign any kind of letter. To me it doesn't seem professional.

Here's what I can provide, is it enough?

* Of course proof of 15k+ USD held more than 3 months etc, in my personal bank account.

* Website with portfolio and my company data

* Proof of my ownership of this company translated. But should it be notarized since I will translate it from Bulgarian?

* Public freelancer profile in a platform, where in the past years I performed work. It lists 100+ projects completed but these were paid in the previous years. There's my name and photo in there. Anyone can see it with a Google search and I can share the link with them. I'm not working with this platform right now but it is a proof of work done between 2020 and 2025.

* Linkedin profile, kind of active. Updated with recent true information.

Will they give me issues since I only have 1 client? My last other client was in March 2026. I already have 16K+ USD on my personal bank account, waiting for the 3 months of statements, and when I will submit my application I will have a statement with at least 20K usd. The rest of my money is in my business bank account.

1) Should I apply from Ho Chi Minh City, would that help, compared to online only?

2) Do I need to notarize any Bulgarian documents that have been translated OR if they're translated by me is OK? I read that everything must be either Thai or Eng.

3) Residency: I read about someone getting rejected because they didn't apply from the country of residence. I reside in Bulgaria but I plan to leave in 1 month. DTV application for me will be mid November. Can I apply from Vietnam or Malaysia if I stay there for 2 months?

I don't know if relevant but I'm an Italian citizen, currently with long permit to live in Bulgaria (I have official docs to support this)

Thank you for any feedback!
Answer summary
The individual is inquiring about the application process for a DTV Freelancer visa in Thailand, specifically concerning having only one client. They outline their business structure in Bulgaria, income details, and documentation they plan to provide. Key concerns include whether they need a letter from their client, the necessity of notarizing translated documents, and where to apply for the visa considering their residency status. Responses from the community suggest that having only one client is not an issue, that self-translated documents may be acceptable, and that applying from Vietnam is preferable to Malaysia.

you need to show that money goes from professional account to private account on your name.

Different country, similar shape: I applied as the director of my own company rather than as a loosely defined freelancer, and it was approved. Tokyo, filed 23 April 2026, approved 2 June.

What my agent kept coming back to was whether an officer could verify things independently. Company registration papers, a business someone can look up, income that plainly arrives from outside Thailand. Your Bulgarian company and the contract between the two companies do that job. A signed letter from your client is not the only way to show the work is real.

One number, since the single-client worry is really a worry about looking thin. My agent's working guidance was around 200,000 yen a month sustained over about three months. My own income over that period ran between 100,000 and 200,000 yen a month, below their guidance, and it was not a problem. Consistency and documents seemed to matter more than the figure.

I can't help with the Bulgarian notarisation or the where-to-apply-from questions. Mine was Tokyo only. And for what it's worth, the thing that actually delayed my file was none of the paperwork above: the embassy rejected my application photograph twice.

Having one client is not a problem. All applications are online only; you can not apply in person in HCMH. Self translated docs are ok. You can apply in Vietnam and Malaysia as a tourist, no need to stay 2mths. Malaysia is the strictest place to to get a DTV better to get it from Vietnam.
