TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the availability of visa agents in East Thailand, particularly in Nakom Phanom and Mukdahan, and expresses concern about the need to travel to Khon Kaen for assistance. Responses suggest that while there may be limited local options, it is possible to utilize Bangkok-based visa agents through email and postal services, and some users mention alternatives in nearby areas.

I've seen visa companies/visa and border run companies advertising in Ubon.

In korat you ask the papers what you need on imigration and there are a few girls they help you to fill in everything (can give a tip)
Dmb *******
Use a visa agent like above you can send all documents via email or pop them in the mail, I live in koh tao, my visa agent is in Bangkok for the last 5 years I have done everything via emails ans postal couriers, never stepped foot In their office

It's not a scam if you agree to pay it, because that's the going rate, some people only have their government pension coming in, so don't meet the requirements for the āļŋ65k a month method, I have heard some people just somehow recycle it every month, not sure exactly how it is done, it is funny how you choose to ignore the fact the agent is paid with "interest money" so essentially it's a free visa with āļŋ25k in your back pocket, your visa costs āļŋ1900 but that's out your "own money" a lot just sit the āļŋ800k in a Thai bank year after year, earning virtually nothing in interest, it works for a lot of people using an agent, because otherwise they wouldn't be able to live in Thailand, so they don't have a choice, because they don't have savings and only live on a government pension.

@Dmb ******
Must cost you a small fortune. I just pay 1900 baht each year at my immigration office
Dmb *******
@Jim *******
not really, depends what visa your on bit thanks for the pointless post, iam sure it will help the poster no end.... not
Jim ********
@Dmb ******
Poster might not be aware that agents operate some of the biggest scams in Thailand
Dmb *******
@Jim *******
???? How???
Jim ********
@Dmb ******
A buddy of mine pays
*****
baht each year for a 1900 baht extension. That's not a scam? 😂
Andy **********
@Jim *******
25k baht every year?? That's a scam, it's 25k baht for the first year, and usually around 15k baht for a renewal of the 12 month extension, a friend of mine gets 40k baht interest on his 800k baht in his home country bank, he gives 15k baht to his agent, and the rest is pocket money, and doesn't need to deal any of that Thai bureaucracy, in an immigration office.

@Andy *********
I'm simply pointing out it's a scam. Expats scream "taxi mafia scam" if they're charged 500 baht for a 300 baht fare, but to pay even
*****
baht for a 1900 baht extension is NOT a scam? Yeah right!! 😂😂😂
Andy **********
@Jim *******
so pay the agent scam as you like to call it, and have āļŋ25k pocket money, because that is what's left out of the āļŋ40k yearly interest payment ðŸĪ·ðŸ™†ðŸĪĶ 😂😂😉
Jim ********
@Andy *********
And using my method, it's perfectly legal, and I still have
*****
baht pocket money each year! 👍👍😂😂
Andy **********
@Jim *******
let's just agree everyone has their own way of doing things, as long as it doesn't directly affect you, it doesn't really matter.
Jim ********
@Andy *********
I think I already said that. I was simply pointing out it's a scam.

baht for a 1900 baht visa extension is a scam. Yes I believe in freedom of choice. It's entirely up to the individual. I've better things to do with my money and I hate being scammed. That's ok surely? Or are you going to find fault with that? 😆
Jim ********
@Andy *********
If you want to use an agent it's fine. I'm simply pointing out it's a scam, whilst others are pretending it's not. I use the 65k transfer method. I mean, FFS, you need money to live on surely? So this gives you a monthly income, as well as satisfying immigration, and there's no scam involved. I hate being scammed, it's that simple

If he's getting 40k in interest, that meens before tax he earns 50k. A rate of 6.25%, I'm interested, where does he get that rate? I want to open an account there.
Andy **********
@Brian *******
he just said it is sat in a ISA saving account in a UK bank, getting 5% interest. So āļŋ800k baht is āļŋ40,000 baht a year tax free.
Carsten ************
@Jim *******
tell your buddy, 12-14k is the going rate. He needs to negotiate.
Jim ********
@Carsten ***********
I pay 1900 baht - if people are that helpless they can't commit themselves, I'm certainly not going to give advice!! 😂😂😂
Dmb *******
@Jim *******
then why bother filling the feed full of nonsense?
Brian ********
@Jim *******
IMO, anyone who cannot extend a retirement visa on their own should not be allowed out without their mum
Carsten ************
@Jim *******
if you don't want to give advice on the op's question, why commenting at all? Go and get a life.
Dmb *******
@Carsten ***********
cos he is a knob jockey lol
Jim ********
@Carsten ***********
Where's your advice? 😂😂😂
Carsten ************
@Jim *******
my advice was directed to your buddy, negotiating the conditions. Now enough trolling, ðŸĪĄ
Dmb *******
@Jim *******
it's a "work around" if you don't have tje 800k in a thai bank, so hardly a scam, in my book a scam = pay some money for something and receive nothing back in return. Here they are getting a visa that otherwise would be out of their reach
Andy ************
@Dmb ******
People can use the 65k per month pension/transfer method. I've done that for years. No need to tie up 800k.
Dmb *******
@Andy ***********
yes that is another way of doing it, but if tou don't have 800k or w 65k monthly pension the only way around it is to use an agency
Andy ************
@Dmb ******
If you think scams are nonsense it's your prerogative! To each their own.
Jim ********
@Dmb ******
Oh! It's a "workaround" is it? Now I've heard everything!! 😂😂😂
Graham ******
Why do you need an agent?
Russ *******

@Graham *****
Because I don't trust advice online, only to be asked for extra documents or to be told its not possible ect. when I try it myself. Very unreliable and often contradicting info. Agents make it so much easier and less likely to screw up.

You know why I need an agent surely?
Graham ******
@Russ ******
I know if you go to Immigration and get their list of requirements for whatever you want to do it's not that difficult and will cost just 1900B (extension) or 2000B (visa) so no I don't know.

Not with the experience I've had at Thai immigration offices. Left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

You do you.

I initially asked about Visa agents in this area. Don't remember asking if you thought it's worth using a Visa Agent or not.
