Hi all, I’m seeking a little advice. I’m a UK passport holder living in Central Thailand on a O-A multi entry visa obtained in London last May, and landed in Thailand on the 26th July last year, and I feel as if I have been inadvertently side-swiped by immigration because of the way they seemed to been interpreting the rules, which was certainly different to my understanding.

I reported myself to immigration within the first 24 hours of arrival in Lopburi at Lopburi Immigration and was informed, by them, that every time l left the province overnight I would have to report back to immigration (that certainly wasn’t my understanding of the rules and 90 Day Reporting), so in good faith, I did exactly what they asked.

My Thai girlfriend has a second shop and attends events in Bangkok so we have to travel there quite often, and sometimes if she finishes work late, so we have checked into a hotel for the night. Each time we did this the following day I reported back to immigration, with the landlady, her ID etc to fill out all the forms again to re-resister my address in Lopburi (even though I have a 12 month contract for that address). But each time we did this, immigration gave me a new 90 day report date. At one point I even went though this procedure 3 times in 2 weeks, landlady, forms, new report date etc etc. The last time I did this was after going to Phuket for a 4 day break, we came back on Friday 26th of October (Late), so I reported to immigration on Monday 29th October, and was told by the immigration officer that my 90 day report date was now 27th of January, (I’m a fastidious type of person, and put the date in my phone calendar there and then).

I went to immigration 4 days ago to do my 90 day report (what I thought was two days early) only to find that they had completely changed tack on their interpretation and was told by immigration that according to their records I should have reported on the 14th January, and that reporting my address had nothing to do with the 90 Day Reporting (which was my understanding from the start) and then continued to give me a 2000 bht fine and a big stamp in my passport. I did try to explain what they had told me, and what they had done previously but they were having none of it, so I wasn’t going to argue, smiled, paid the fine and left.

My question is (finally), is this stamp going to cause me any difficulties or affect any future extensions of stay applications? and is there anyway I can get this rectified as I was obviously given the wrong information at the time, but as it was only verbal, I have no proof.
