Tourist visa required for exempted visa countries.

Have seen posts and heard stories on how people have been told / forced to get a tourist visa even when they are exempted in order to be permitted to enter Thailand?

Questions are;

​(1) Why impose such a requirement?

​(2) Online Tourist visa is not available for exempted countries. So how do you then supposed to apply for it?

I am presently in Thailand for 6 weeks. My last visit was in March for a month. At immigration I was asked about my return ticket and asked if I have family in Thailand. I told them that I am just travelling around, which I am. I gave an Airbnb address and not a hotel which may have aroused suspicion. I am returning to the UK on 16th November and returning to Thailand again mid January for just under 60 days. The flights are already booked. I am planning to use the visa exemption once again. Is this wise? Would I be better applying for a 3 month tourist visa or would that be considered a waste of time and money? If I were to plan another trip in May next year would I be better advised to go for the Multi entry visa? Any advice would be appreciated 🙏

I an from the UK . I may have a chance of work in UAE which will be 8 weeks on and 8 weeks off through the year which means I can go to Thailand on the 60 day visa . When it comes to Christmas I could be in Thailand just over 90 days . My question is can I apply away from my home country for a 6 month tourist visa for this time or is there a better option

Hello, we are new to Chiang Mai, have been here for 9 weeks. I’m here with my husband and two kids, our kids are enrolled in an international school and will be getting ED visas soon. Through that, my husband and I can attain Guardian visas for the school year. We are unfamiliar with the process of applying for Guardian visas and will need to leave Thailand soon to reset our tourist visas while we are in the process of applying for them. My kids have appointment on November 3rd to change their tourist visas over to ED visas. At that point, we assume we can start the Guardian visas process. We were also told we would each need to have 486,000 baht each in a Thai bank account. We were also told we may need to have our kids’ birth certificates notarized, which we don’t have the original copies here with us so would not be able to do. Could anyone recommend a good Thai Bank and any advice regarding the original birth certificates? Could my husband and I leave every 2-3 months to reset our tourist visas? Is that an option for staying here long term?

Anyone had any issues with getting a DTV through the Japanese Embassy?

Hi all, I got some question about DTV, DTV is considered as a tourist visa, so it is not allow to open a bank account in Thailand, which means I only can carry cash though flight, i dont feel this is a good idea to carry couple hundred thousand cash in the bag, feel unsafe

Second, since i dont have bank account in thailand, can i pay the rent, utility bills by cash? Thanks all.

Q: why need so much cash

A: if i dont got bank account or any e-payment method, the cash is the only way to pay all the goods and bills, consider DTV is a 6 month visa, monthly expense for me approximate 30-35k THB, so if i carry around 200k THB, it let me feel nervous if i lost it, i am the type of people prefer the money keep on bank

What are your experiences with the multiple entry e-visa where you can come in and out the country for a period of 6 months?

Hey guys, so I have been in Thailand for about 7-8 months doing 2 x border runs and 2 extensions.

I went overseas for 2 weeks and arrived back at the weekend. Customs pulled me aside and wanted to see my next flight, which I have in 2 weeks time, this time overseas for 3 weeks, then returning back to Thailand after that.

Was I unlucky or is this normal now?

Should I expect the same next time?

Also, I have dual passport, I could fly back on the other one? Thanks......

Im currently in Thailand on a tourist visa. Im planning on Doing a Dtv program through a gym. I heard vietnam is one of the better places to do it ? Is this still true ? Has any one else had recent experiance with this ?
