Do Some Research Before Asking the Same Questions Over and Over

I’ve noticed that many new people who join this group don’t seem to do any research before asking questions. Instead of using the search function, they keep reposting the same questions over and over again.

Seriously, if you’re planning to live in Thailand for up to five years, you should be able to do some basic research on your own.

For example:

“Can I open a bank account with a DTV?”

Have you tried searching the group first? This question has probably been asked hundreds of times already.

I’m not trying to be rude, but repeatedly asking the same questions without doing even a little research comes across as lazy. If you’re coming to Thailand for the long term, having a more independent and resourceful mindset will make your life much easier.

So before posting the same question again, use the search function first.
Answer summary
The post discusses the frequent repetition of common questions by new expats in Thailand, specifically criticizing the lack of research before posting in forums. It highlights frustration over recurring inquiries about basic topics, such as opening a bank account with a DTV visa. Several comments express mixed feelings, acknowledging the excitement of new expats while also citing the importance of updated information. The conversation reflects on human nature regarding the ease of asking questions instead of searching for answers.
