I have my U.S phone Set up so I can use it Here in Thailand and any place in the world that I go Spectrum is my carrier Pay a little extra but it's worth
Tmobile works perfectly fine, but is probably unnecessarily expensive if you don't plan on returning to the continent often. There are cheaper options.
Tello. Used google voice for years and still have it, but there always seemed to be some sort of issue. Tello is much simpler and you can get a $5 a month plan that recieves 2FA texts and can make and receive calls with wifi calling. It's also super easy to upgrade the plan (~$30/month) with cellular data when returning to the US while keeping the same number.
Ultra mobile is great been using it over a year get texts over wifi for free or 5g if not on wifi I think they are 5 cents a piece then must have credit in your international area of the app for 5g texts
Karl Diekman Yup, TMobile for me too. Works great as I move around from Thailand to Vietnam to Japan. And when I return to the US it's like I had never left.
