What are the challenges of porting a number from T-Mobile to Tello?
Has anybody used Tello and had trouble porting your old number over to them?
I use T-Mobile in the US, and for some reason my number will not port over to Tello and nobody can figure out why.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Or any suggestions on alternate carriers.

When I'm in Thailand, my Tello only works with a wifi connection (it uses wifi calling for making/receiving calls and texts too).
Bonus - Calling TO Thailand from the US is included free (just uses your minutes) and works off their cellular signal.

I had no problem porting from t-mobile to tello. You need to set up/release the number from t-mobile side to port it.

For Tello its best to set up before leaving US. It wouldn't allow us to do it in Thailand. We ported with google voice. One time $20 fee and have a 2k baht a year Sim card from Lazada

Need a lot more details but...I'd port out to UltraMobile (part of T-Mobile so easy to do), PAYG, $3/month. Supports WiFi calling. Or port out to Google Voice.

I just read that you have to be in the US to port your number to Tello. Not sure if that might be the issue.

Google Voice, $20 to port. Has to be done in the states though. If you’re in Thailand, maybe a close friend can do for you.

Porting easy as long as you do everything in the way they ask. The name of customer on bill address etc. you will get porting code out that in properly and should happen within 23 hrs. Been on them for 2 yrs from Verizon and works perfectly sms no issues

Personally, I would keep your current T–Mobile service and use their SMS Text Message Roaming service to receive any 2FA Authentication SMS Text Messages

OPI’m very open to any ideas and what’s the best way to stay connected to the US and keep my US phone number
I’m on a family plan with TMobile, so it doesn’t cost me anything extra to keep the line with them. Again, I’m just worried about calls coming through there and text messages, and being charged international rates.
I can pay for international roaming with TMobile at $50 a month but they only let you do that for three months and then they cut you off

Is your number unlocked? I ported my number from Verizon without any issues. When you enter your number does tello say it's able to be ported?

Did you get the number porting authorization code from the T–Mobile website to input into Tello or your destination carrier/service provider website?
