What is the current processing time for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) through Taipei?

Anyone applied for a DTV through Taiwan recently? How long did yours take?

Quick one for the group, particularly anyone who has used the TTE Office in Taipei for a Destination Thailand Visa.

I came to Taiwan specifically to lodge my DTV Workation application and thought, perhaps somewhat optimistically, that the whole online e-Visa system might translate into a reasonably streamlined turnaround.

Apparently the “e” in e-Visa may stand for eventually. 😄

I’ve now been in Taiwan for a little over a month. My application moved to Pending Approval after about six days and has stayed there ever since.

The Taipei Visa Section has been polite when contacted and has advised that:

* they are dealing with a high volume of DTV applications;

* document checking is quite intensive;

* processing may take around 3–4 weeks;

* my application has progressed to the decision-making stage; and

* I’ve subsequently been told it is with the supervisor.

So far, though, no request for additional documents, no decision, and not much visibility beyond the traditional immigration favourite:

“Please wait.”

And wait I have.

At this point I’m developing an impressive knowledge of Taiwan’s hotel industry and could probably start reviewing accommodation professionally. 😂

For anyone considering Taiwan as the place from which to lodge a DTV, I’m not posting this as criticism of the staff—they appear to have a significant workload—but it may be worth factoring a potentially long stay in Taiwan into your plans and budget rather than assuming the online system means a quick decision.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has applied through Taipei, particularly recently:

How long from submission to approval?

How long were you sitting at Pending Approval?

Were you asked for additional documents?

Did it eventually just suddenly change to approved?

And has anyone experienced a 4–5+ week Taipei processing time?

Would be useful to build a realistic picture for everyone considering Taiwan as their DTV application port.
