TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on the best visa option for retiring in Thailand, specifically in Buriram, while currently residing in Australia with a Thai partner and their son. The discussion highlights that the Retirement Visa (OA) can be applied for in Australia, which requires medical insurance and proof of funds in an Australian account, or the option to apply for a type O visa in Thailand. The comment also mentions the flexibility of applying on a 60-day visa exempt and transitioning to the O visa for a longer stay. Additionally, advice on safe fund transfer methods for building a house in Thailand is requested.

If you are going to go for Retirement Visa you can apply in Australia for OA or in Thailand for O. If in Australia you will need to get Medical insurance and show money in Australian bank. If applying in Thailand no need to show insurance but money needs to be in a Thai Bank. If doing in Thailand arrive on a 60 day visa exempt. Apply for the O and you will get 90 days. Towards end of 90 days you will get 1 year. Renew every year. You can also apply for a spouse visa. Less money required in bank but a little more paperwork. Then there is the DTV.
