Hi, I will be applying for an O retirement visa 20+ days before my current visa runs out. What document do I need to show proving I have transferred 800k from abroad to a Thai bank, an updated bank book or statement?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for an O retirement visa in Thailand, you need to prove that you have transferred 800,000 THB from abroad to a Thai bank. The acceptable documents for this proof are typically an updated bank book or a bank statement that clearly evidences the transfer.

you will need both a statement and updated bank book on the same day you apply for retirement visa .

ask your Thai immigration office for their requirements... not all are the same.

Oops that was meant for the poster.

Can you add the visa chart for him?

That’s still the extension. He’s applying for a visa.

look at the Visa requirements on the Thai Embassy websites where your friend is at... they are not all the same list of requirements.

Not my friend but good advice except it sounds like he’s already in Thailand. I was just trying to make sure the OP realized the charts you posted are for the next step after the visa he is applying for.

if he's already in Thailand...have him visit the local Thai immigration office and ask for the Non O Visa list of requirements. Along with the one year extension of stay as retired.
