Hi, just got back here a month ago with a non imm o-a visa. Apparently I applied for it at the end of October just before the Health insurance requirement went into effect. I’m only hearing about all the recent changes now. So curious to know if there is a list of approved health insurance programs from US that immigration. Link to a list much appreciated. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking for a list of approved health insurance programs from the US for their Non-Imm O-A visa. Several comments clarify that those with an O-A visa issued before October 31, 2019, might not need to show proof of insurance upon re-entry to Thailand. A provided link lists the required insurance providers, which become mandatory for yearly extensions after the first year. It is also suggested that US insurance may be accepted if it is on the TGIA-approved list.

@Domi****
did you click on that link that
@Gre***
provided you that listed the 12 approved thai insurance companies?

The reason I ask if you did IS because the form you requested is ON that page at the top :P

you are highly unlikely to have a problem seeing as you got your O-A visa BEFORE the Oct 31st date when the rule changed.

There are conflicting reports as far as IF that form really works IF you're asked for proof of insurance.

TO be honest that form is NOT to show thai immigration officers when you stamp in it's to submit to the consulate officers when you apply for a Non-O-A visa in your country.

So I don't know how much good that form will be and I personally wouldn't even bother with it. <- but that's me.

I believe that at this time if you leave and re-enter you will not need to prove insurance if your visa was issued before October 31. However, it is not 100% that you will get through easily through immigration. You may be questioned and you may have to point out the date of your visa and say that you don’t need insurance.

There is a downloadable form on the TGIA website (also search this group). If you can get Aetna US to sign the form then that would be the insurance certificate you could show to Immigration if you want a certificate.

However, for future 1 year extensions you will need Thai insurance. This would be a good time to consider switching to a non-immigrant O when this visa expires. That would relieve you of any insurance requirement in the future.

Okay, you ONLY need to use one of the 12 approved insurance providers IF you are getting a yearly extension of stay off an O-A visa.

If you're on a valid O-A you are fine. AND from now on when you buy a new O-A you can show proof of meeting the mandatory insurance requirements by using insurance from your country.

not only "recommended" but binding. Only these 12 insurances will be accepted. for the first year of a Non-Imm-O/A you can use a home based insurance, but after this 1-year period, only these 12 insurances listed will get approval

This is the list recommended by the Thai Embassy in the UK but I understand that it is only a recommendation and not binding. I tried them all but only one would do over 70's and then only until 75 (at very high cost)

here comes the list of accepted insurances:

If you entered with a multi entry Non-Imm-O/A Visa issued before October 31, 2019, you did not need to show a health insurance. And the 1-Billion question still is, does somebody with a Non-Imm-OA Visa from before the requirement came into effect, will need a thai helath insurance from one of those insurers from the tgia list, if he/she does a re-entry into Thailand with the stilll valid OA visa. I don't know for sure. But fact is, if your US insurance is not on the tgia list, or hasn't signed the foreign insurance form required for the application for a Non-Imm-OA at an embassy in your home country, it will not be accepted

Where do I get this certificate next time? Do I get it from embassy and get my insurance agent to sign it or is this something between them only I.e. a program the insurer signs up to with a certifying agency?? Cheers again:)

the foreign insurance certificate needs to be signed and supplied with the application for a Non-Imm-OA visa on an embassy or consulate. In case this certificate was not supplied, you cannot use any of other existing insurances for further entries or extensions under the OA visa. You might find out - and this is THE million Dollar question - upon a re-entry under the OA visa . . they might insist on an insurance or they don't. We do not know for sure

Thanks. I got no the non immOAvisa just 2 days before came into effect just by chance. However I do have Aetna insurance in USA. The Aetna on the list u provided is Aetna Thailand. So I guess the question is if Aetna USA signed the the foreign insurance form. How do I find that out? Many thanks in advance.
