What are some Muay Thai gyms or cooking schools in Koh Samui that offer DTV-eligible programs for a short duration?

Hi everyone! I’m in the early stages of planning my family’s move to Thailand on the DTV, and I’m looking at completing my Soft Power activity in Koh Samui.

Does anyone have experience with Muay Thai gyms or cooking schools in Koh Samui that offer 6-month DTV-eligible programs?

I’m aware of at least one cooking school that offers a 12-month program, but I’d prefer not to commit to a full year in one location before we’ve had a chance to see if Koh Samui is the right long-term fit for our family.

If you’ve had a good experience with a school or gym—or have any recommendations or advice—I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I strongly suggest looking at a school that has more than 1 location, and booking the 12 month course. That way you can switch to one of their other locations if needed. There have been many recent reports of people being issued the METV instead of the DTV when applying with a 6 month course. That’s not to say it happened to all, but I’ve seen enough here and on the other groups. I already decided I want to do 12 months regardless, so it didn’t affect my decision…but I thought I should warn.

By the way, you do have the option of scheduling your classes as you like; my intention is to travel the 2.5 hours to Bangkok once each month and spend the week doing classes…then I’m free to explore the region I’ll be living in, travel the county or visit another country the other 3 weeks.
